By Brad KellarHerald-Banner StaffAfter a dry and fire-plagued 2022, the North Texas region is entering the new year drought free. Hunt and Rockwall counties ended 2021 under a moderate drought, and conditions worsened throughout the spring and early summer to where bans on outdoor burning were implemented in both counties during the summer.The drought had reached severe stage as of the start of July, and the Hunt County Commissioners Court voted to order the implementation of a burn ban in the county, the first since September of 2019.
